The original photographic scan had many scratches and missing sections. After an initial assessment of the scan, the restoration project was carried out to restore and enhance the old image. The work included reduction and removal of dust and scratches (including on the man's face), minor changes to the image contrast, a new crop to fit a standard photographic format, and the choice of a colorization filter to finish. The new image was produced at high resolution at 5 x 7 inches to be suitable for print.
